How many hours do I need?
All renewing agents must have 15 hours of CE credits. This includes anyone licensed 10 years or more, because they changed the law.
I'm inactive and moving my license to active or referral, do I need CE credits? If so, how many?
Yes, you need CE hours. Even though you are inactive this dosen't excuse you from not keeping up your continuing education requirements. You'll have to get in touch with the commission to find out exactly how many hours you'll need based on how long you've been inactive.
What classes are required?
A 3 hour Ethics class to include predatory lending and fllipping, a 3 hour (A) real estate law class such as Legislative update or agency etc. and 1 1/2 hour class on Fair Housing. The other 7 1/2 hours are electives. You may not, however, have more than one 3 hour class in the (G) category.
I already took this class can I take it again?
You may take classes with the same title, such as Code of Ethics, two times as long as its with two different schools. You may take a similar class with the same school as long as it has a different class ID number. Under no circumstances may you use two certificates with the same class ID number.
Can I renew my license today and then take my last class tomorrow?
Possitively NOT. When you hit the renew button you are swearing you have completed all your hours. Since you haven't, that's fraud. If you get audited, and many more are these days, you will get at least a $1,500 fine and possible suspension. The best advice would be to take the $150 late fee hit and renew after getting all your certificates. This will also serve as incentive to get your hours in the first part of your renewal period, rather than the last two weeks.
